Online Practice Journal

Assignments October 23rd, 2011

If you look over to the right, you’ll notice a  page titled “Practice Journal” – this is your new best friend!  Instead of accidentally forgetting your practice journal at school or losing it among your piles of homework – you can now complete the practice journal online.

Each week, fill out this practice journal by Monday-9:00pm for 8 points.  Be sure to fully answer the narrative questions for full credit. There will be a paper practice journal available if you need it, but I highly recommend doing this one.  Feel free to come in to use our computers if you need to!

The next one is not due until Monday, Feb. 6 by 9:00pm!

The replacement assignment is here.

Jazz Band Info & Auditions

Uncategorized October 1st, 2011

Jazz Ensemble auditions are happening on Monday, Oct. 3 from 3:30-7pm.  The Jazz Ensemble is open to 6, 7 & 8th grade music students that play saxophone, trombone, trumpet, bass, piano, and drumset.  Students have already signed-up for a short 5 minute audition with Mr. Ozsvath & Mr. Buckley.  If any student still wants to audition, it’s not too late.  Please email or see Mr. Ozsvath to set-up an audition time.

Any student that wishes to be in jazz band, but not audition, can be in the Jazz Lab band.  Both the Jazz Lab & Jazz Ensemble perform throughout the year at RMS and in the local community.  Jazz Lab rehearses on Tuesday morning at 7am & the Jazz Ensemble rehearses on Wednesday mornings at 7am.

Performances this year include the Jazz Coffeehouse (with Haines & Geneva middle schools), Jazz on the Plaz, All-City Jazz Concert, End-of-the-Year Jazz Gala, and the amazingly fun performance at Luigi’s Pizza & Fun Center complete with pizza, laser tag, and arcade games.
